C. A. T. C. is a non-proit youth track and field team based in Oakland, California which strives to serve the Bay Area's youth in competitve and recreational sports. The club is a member of both the USA Track and Field (USATF) and Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Pacific Associations.
C. A. T. C. consists of about 30 - 40 athletes that range in ages of 10 - 18. C. A. T. C.s goals are to encourage and help our youth to develop physically through team practices and meets, emotionally through growth and positive self-image, and socially through the development of friendships and encouragement.
The club began 8 years ago by Jamal Cooks, who is also the Skyline HS Head Track & Field Coach. The team name is not an acronym for California but an abbreviation for our two founding sponsors, Creative Education and Academics for Success.
The budgetary funds for C. A. T. C. are based solely on membership dues, fundraising, and donations.
